There has been much anticipation about the newly built Dhola-Sadiya bridge in Assam that will connect the state with Arunachal Pradesh. The bridge will be inaugurated by the Prime Minster Narendra Modi on 26th May, 2017.
This bridge is quite different from all other bridges in India and here are some mind blowing facts of the newly constructed Dhola Sadiya bridge that will surely leave you awe struck:
1. The Dhola Sadiya bridge can withstand the weight of a battle tank that weighs 60 tonnes.
2. The length of Dhola Sadiya bridge is 9.55 kms making it the longest bridge in India. Its length is 3.55 kms more than Bandra-Worli Sea Link in Mumbai.
3. The construction of the bridge was started at an initial cost of Rs. 950 Crores in 2011 and can withstand continuous movement of military tanks.
4. The Dhola Sadiya bridge once operational, will cut down the travelling time between Arunachal Pradesh and Assam by almost four hours.
5. With the bridge's distance 100 Kms by air from China, it has been built to serve as a huge strategic value to India for quick movement of defence personnel and artillery in times of war and conflict.
