Harish Salve, One Of India’s Most Expensive Lawyers, Is Fighting Jadhav’s Case For Re 1

Harish Salve, who fought India's case at the International Court of Justice against the death penalty given to Kulbhushan Jadhav by Pakistan, has charged Re 1 as fee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said today.

Her tweet came in response to a tweet by a Twitter user, who said India could have got any good lawyer with much less fee than what Salve must have charged for fighting the case.

Who Is Harish Salve?
Indian lawyer Harish Salve specializes in constitutional, commercial and taxation laws and is counted among one of the most expensive lawyers in India!
As per an estimate by LegallyIndia.com in 2015, Salve charges anything between 6 and 15 lakh per appearance. His fee can reportedly go up to Rs 30 lakh a day also
He is the son of NKP Salve, who was a prominent politician with Congress
He comes from a long line of officers of the law, his grandfather being a well-known criminal lawyer himself
A former Solicitor General of India, Salve has represented high-profile cases like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Prakash Singh Badal and Lalit Modi. He really came into the limelight after winning Mukesh Ambani's gas dispute against brother Anil who was represented by Ram Jethmalani.
In 2012, Salve helped Vodafone win Rs 11,000 crore tax against government
In 2009, India Today magazine ranked him the 18th most powerful person in the country. In 2017, he continues to be on the list at 43rd position
Salve was the man who saved Salman Khan in the hit-and-run case
He represented the Delhi police in a case regarding the supporters of Baba Ramdev.
